Thank you for your thoughtful analysis. I, too, am concerned about the environmental impacts of the proposed development, especially the deforestation and runoff issues. As you are advocating, the buffer between the development and the wildlife refuge needs to be increased and the existing wetlands protected. I have recently moved here and am surprised that the county isn’t more concerned about protecting existing open space and wetlands, especially when they are adjacent to a river. It’s great that you have received input from some environmental groups. Are there others that might be willing to get involved? In addition to the letter with attachment sent on behalf of the Concerned Citizens of Belmont Bay, if it is helpful for individuals to also write to the appropriate government officials, or others, I am happy to do so.
