Belmont Bay Bat Festival

BELMONT BAY BAT FESTIVAL

Concerned Citizens United for Belmont Bay is pleased to announce that the Belmont Bay Bat Festival will be held on Thursday, 11/02/2023 from 5-8pm, at the Visitor Center, Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge. We are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the enactment of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 and the local detection of one particular bat— the Northern Long-Eared Bat— which is on the Endangered Species List, and one other bat— the Tricolored Bat— which has been proposed to be listed as endangered at the OBNWR.

Representatives from the Bat Conservation International, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bat Conservation and Rescue of Virginia, the National Wildlife Refuge Association, and Rob Hartwell, a Belmont Bay resident, will be speaking at the Festival. The festival will be informational, educational and fun. Please come to learn all about bats, the survival challenges they are facing, and what we can do to save them from extinction.   Bats will be in attendance!

All residents are welcome. No registration is required. For questions and further information please contact info@BelmontBayUnited.com.
